YORK FASHION WEEK STUDENT & GRADUATE SHOW
York Fashion Week is the city wide celebration of fashion that champions student and grassroot designers. In 2023 it hosted the Student & Graduate Runway in York Art Gallery.
YFW has built a strong reputation for its Student & Graduate Show and the PR that it attracts, but for 2023 there was a need to take things to the next level. It wanted to be the very first body to host a runway show in York Art Gallery.
Delivering the Solution
Working alongside the York Art Gallery team, NIMA pitched an event and runway concept that could see a huge runway take place in the main gallery of the museum, following an elegant drinks reception in the welcome hall.
To deliver this event required careful logistics throughout the day. We had a huge crew which would be working across two sites, with only 2 hours to setup the show, and we needed to ensure we could abide to the Gallery’s strict guidelines, to ensure that we protected the art and didn’t affect the gallery experience for members of the public.
Alongside curating the show and choreographing a one hour fashion production, we needed to drive brand awareness and drive a PR campaign that welcomed in fashion journalists from across the UK.

The Results
NIMA managed a crew of 50, worked across two venues and put on a sell out runway show that was featured on Fashion Network, The Yorkshire Post, York Press, BBC Radio and Look North. We welcomed designers from Northumbria University, Leeds Art University, Huddersfield University and York College.
We were delighted to work with fantastic local brands including Party Octopus and Lucia Restaurants, which took this beautiful event to the next level with an elegant Moet drinks reception and fantastic social content that was shared across Instagram and TikTok.
